The Olatpur-based Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR) Director Shakti Prasad Das was allegedly attacked by unidentified miscreants on Wednesday.
Sources said two motorbike-borne miscreants attacked Das’ car at Kantapada when he was returning from the hospital. The duo hurled stones or bombs at his car in which the windshield of the car was badly damaged and Das suffered injuries on his head.
Later, he filed a complaint with the Olatpur police who began investigating into the incident. But it was yet to be ascertained who were involved and what the motive behind the attack was.
Notably, rights bodies recently levelled serious allegations against Das of committing irregularities worth crores of rupees in the institute and nepotism in the selection of Staff Nurses and Junior Assistants.
Besides, the rights activists had demanded a high-level probe and stringent action against Das.
