Niranjan sure Congress to be in power in 2019

PCC president Niranjan Patnaik has stated that the BJD Government is a failure on all fronts. There is a series of scams, massive unemployment, poverty, atrocities on women and deterioration of law and order in the State.

The so-called dreams of Biju Patnaik have remained unfulfilled under his son Naveen Patnaik’s rule for 18 long years, he said while attending a party reception for him here on Thursday.

Describing the State’s industrial scenarios as gloomy, Niranjan Patnaik said that though a host of MoUs have been signed during Naveen’s tenure as Chief Minister, most of the projects have failed to take off, Odia youths are migrating to other States in search of jobs.

The health and agriculture sectors are in pathetic conditions in the absence of any long-term solution.

Farmers are committing suicide; assaults on women and minor girls are a daily affair.

The PCC chief asserted that the Congress would certainly return to power in the State in 2019 and its Government would waive farm loans and increase the old age pension from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000 as its priority decisions.

AICC Odisha in-charge Jitendra Singh, speaking at the event, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of supporting the Chhattisgarh Government in unilaterally building barrages on the Mahanadi thereby restricting water flow to Odisha.

Turning heat on the BJD Governent, Singh said it did nothing to protect the interests of the State till 2015 when the Chhattisgarh Government was busy raising barrages on the Mahanadi but is now shedding crocodile tears.

Among others, PCC working presidents Pradip Majhi and Chiranjib Biswal, AICC secretary Rudra Raju and senior leaders Bhakta Das and MP Ranjib Biswal addressed the gathering of thousands of Congress supporters from across Jagatsinghpur district.
