After achieving a second milestone with restarting of its state-of-the-art steel melting shop (SMS), the Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) dispatched a steel billets consignment to a Rourkela-based company on Friday.
Earlier, advancing towards stabilisation of the SMS, the Kalinga Nagar-based company produced 1,270 tonnes of billet on January 18 to register the highest single-day billet production since its inception.
The NINL started its SMS and resumed billet production in December last which is the second milestone the company planned for its turnaround. The company had achieved the first milestone with blast furnace capital repair in April 2018.
The third milestone of operation of the captive mines is expected in early next fiscal.
The company has also plans to produce TMT bars and wire rods next fiscal.
