BJD leaders used to get panicky when they were offered nimbu pani at the Naveen Niwas. The reason: Some prominent leaders were axed after being offered this drink at the residence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Dilip Ray, one of the founder members of the BJD, who is now in the BJP, is a glaring instance. Ray, described by some as the foster son of Biju Patnaik, was shown the doors after he took nimbu pani at the Naveen Niwas.
Since Ray’s ouster from the regional outfit, BJD leaders hesitate to take nimbu pani at the boss’s house. If aides at the Naveen Niwas make rounds with this hygienic drink, the leaders normally avoid it.
However, this nimbu pani helped Naveen Patnaik after he was dehydrated at the Independence Day ceremony in Bhubaneswar. The Chief Minister had to return to his residence after curtailing his programme as he felt uneasy at the function.
He became perfectly fine taking two glasses of nimbu pani. And he suggested all to take adequate water before going out in the sun. Doctors say 100 gram of nimbu pani provides 28.92 calories of energy. This healthy drink contains sodium, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, carbohydrates, dietary fibre, sugar, protein, Vitamin C and Vitamin B6.
