The Niladrivihar Youth and Cultural Association offered a cheque of Rs 2,001 to born blind Dillip who lost his left leg and left hand in a train mishap at KIIMS hospital here.
Association president Dr Prakash Chandra Panigrahi, general secretary Biswajit Pattnaik (Silu), cultural secretary Bata Krushna Panda and senior member Kumar Barik went to the hospital and asked his health condition, while giving the cheque.
Dillip has a blind wife, old father, mother and four brothers who are dependent on him. Dillip earns his livelihood by singing Bhajans in different stage programmes and by teaching in a school.
On July 3 while he was returning from a stage show and climbing a train at Baleswar, he met the mishap.
