The Puri police on Friday arrested Jagannath Temple servitor Rabi Dash, who had been absconding after the disturbance during the Niladri Bije rituals of the deities last month.
Dash was arrested from Duttatota here and forwarded to court.
Notably, Dash and seven other servitors, who are accused of heckling Puri district Collector Arvind Agarwal during the Niladri Bije rituals, were declared absconders by police on July 27. Posters bearing the photographs of the eight servitors were pasted at public places in the town.
It may be recalled that some sevayats had an altercation with the Collector during the rituals when he confronted them after they and their relatives climbed the Taladhwaja chariot in clear violation of the orders of the High Court and the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) disallowing such act. The incident had led to the delay in the conduct of the rituals.
