Night curfew continues in Bhadrak town

Published on:

The curfew in the riot-hit Bhadrak town was relaxed for 14 hours from 6 am to 8 pm on Tuesday by the district administration as the situation is limping back to normal.

Of late, no untoward incident has been reported. However, the police forces are still deployed and night time curfew continues to be enforced as the district administration does not want to take any chances.

As per the damage assessment report of Central Range RDC AB Ota submitted to the State Government property worth `9 crore was damaged in the violence.

Meanwhile, the State Government has announced a special compensation package to provide relief to the victims of the violence.

The affected people would be entitled to get a maximum monetary assistance of `2 lakh and a minimum of `15,000, sources said.

However, the locals have expressed disappointment over the compensation package of the State Government.

Some locals said they have suffered damages worth lakhs and with monetary assistance provided by the Government they cannot start their business again.
