The key accused in Niali farmer murder case Kartik Pani was produced before the JMFC (Rural) Court here on Saturday, where the Crime Branch made an application to take him on remand for three days for further questioning. The court, however, could not decide over the Crime Branch plea, following which Kartik was sent to the Choudwar jail. Sources said the court is likely to take a decision to this effect either on Monday or Tuesday. Kartik was arrested from Niali on Friday in connection with the farmer Krupasindhu Bhoi murder case. Bhoi’s body was retrieved on January 31 after he had been abducted on January 26. Bhoi had sought certain agricultural-related information from the Cuttack district agriculture office under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. The Niali police had earlier arrested three persons in this connection, they being relatives of the key accused Kartik.
