The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will set up a transit camp here for at least a month to investigate the recent serial train fire incident at the local railway station.
In a letter to the Puri district Collector, the Central probe agency has requested the district administration to provide all facilities for the camp, where four officials of the agency along with some Central forensic scientific experts will stay for the duration of the probe. The Collector has been asked to provide two rooms in the camp and computers for investigation, four-wheeler vehicles and some support staff. The Collector has assured all required assistance to the agency.
An 11-member NIA and Central forensic team had visited Puri and examined the burned bogies at the station on December 12. The team also had held talks with officials of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), the two agencies which initially investigated the train arson incident.
The NIA has become more active after the prime accused in the case Ramachandran Subhash revealed his terror links during a polygraph test.
