A case has been registered at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) urging it to set up an independent enquiry committee to probe the ‘suspected poison in mid day meal’ leading to hospitalisation of six students of Upper Primary School known as Asis Bhawan in Nabarangpur district recently.
Petitioner Jayanta Kumar Das maintained that since the matter is very sensitive the Commission should set up an independent probe panel to unearth the truth.
Notably, six students of Asis Bhawan fell ill after taking the mid day meal in the school and later were hospitalised. It was alleged that one lady teacher Sanjibani Karkara mixed some white material in the egg curry and served the same to the students.
The petitioner urged the Commission to take strong action against the erring teaching staffs of the school and concerned public servants, besides requesting the apex human rights body to direct the State Government to give compensation of `50,000 each to child suffered from ill health and mental agony after eating suspected poison mixed meal.
