The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is scheduled hear and pass its verdict on a complaint filed by rights activist Radhakant Tripathy over a bomb explosion case occurred in Olagada village under Basudevpur police station in Bhadrak where one person was killed and two others were severely injured on May 5 last year at its three-day Bhubaneswar camp court starting from November 10.
Tripathy moved to the apex human rights watchdog on May 14 last year over the issue. “How and why such an explosion occurred in a remote village.Had the Government officials kept vigil over the lives of rural people then such an unfortunate incident would not have happened. Intervention of the commission is sought for independent enquiry and compensation to the kin of the deceased to the injured and other victims whose houses had developed cracks in walls,” the petitioner stated in his petition. It is learnt that the family of the deceased has been paid Rs10,000 only from the Red Cross. However the NHRC will pass an order over the issue on the spot at Bhubaneswar camp sitting.
