The National Human Rights Commission has sought details about the MCl mines mishap from State Chief Secretary JK Mohapatra to be given in a report within four weeks.
It may be noted that 11 persons died and many other were seriously injured as an overburdened dumping yard of the Kulda opencast coalmine in the Basundhara-Garjanbahal area in Sundargarh district of the Mahanadi Coalfield ltd (MCl) caved in on August 10. The Basundhara-Garjanbahal area of the MCl continues to be under the scanner for excess production and loss of coal in fire.
