The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the Angul district Superintendent of Police to submit an action-taken report (ATR) regarding the rape of a minor girl by some hospital employees.
The NHRC asked the ATR to be submitted within four weeks. The commission passed the order taking cognisance of a petition filed by civil society organisation Human Rights Watch secretary Sangita Swain.
In her petition Swain alleged that on September 20, 2018 a minor girl of Badakera village under the Bantala police station in Angul district was raped during a health camp at Bantala Upper Primary school, during health-checkup.
She alleged that this is violation of human rights due to inaction and abetment by the police and concerned authorities due to non-registration of the FIR. She prayed NHRC to pay compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the minor victim.
