The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought an action-taken report from Health and Family Welfare secretary over death of a five-year-old tribal girl due to administration wrong injection. The commission has sought the report from the Secretary within four weeks acting on a complaint filed by Human Rights Watch secretary Sangita Swain.
Swain alleged that one Manika Raita of TR Colony in R Udyagiri district was administered at a Government hospital in R Udyagairi area after being bitten by a dog. Unfortunately the doctors there administered her anti-rabies resulting in her death. Swain prayed the commission to take criminal/disciplinary action against the concerned authorities, besides urging the human rights panel to ensure a compensation of Rs20 lakh to the kin of the deceased.
