NHRC Special Rapporteur Damodar Sarangi interacted with the project-hit people of proposed CESC plant at Neulpoi gram panchayat office here recently.later, he visited Chhatia, Bandhanuagan, Durgaprasad, Neulpoi , Parikheda and Beltikiri and held discussion with the villagers.
Notably, in these areas, there have been allegations that the district administration in league with a few corporate houses has been acquiring the lands of the Dalits and poor resorting to human rights violation.
Dhenkanal Sub-Collector, Debottar Officer, Tehsildars, forest officials, land acquisition officer, police and anti corruption activist Debashisha Hota accompanied Sarangi.
The affected people complained of gross irregularities by the company authorities while acquiring their lands. They alleged that some goons have been employed to get the land forcibly.
The villagers demanded constitution of RPDAC with 50 per cent of its members from affected areas, cancellation of Palli Sabha at Chhatia by July 8, jobs for all unemployed youths, besides several development measures under the R&R policy of the Government. Sarangi is also scheduled to visit the RSB Aluminium affected Bijadihi, Markata , Samatangi, Bhagirathpur and Rekula villages.
