A National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) team will reach Bhadrak and Baleswar districts on July 20 to investigate the violation of human rights and irregularities committed by Government officials in the execution of Kansbans, Gamei and Reba-Kapali river renovation projects.
The decision of the apex human rights watchdog came after 100 petitions were filed by Supreme Court lawyer and rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy on behalf of the victims. These individual petitions were filed recently.
Though Radhakanta has been fighting for justice for thousands victims since 2009, the recent decision of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) certainly has brought a ray of hope among the land losers. Pertinent to mention here is that Tripathy has been fighting all these cases free of cost.
