A case has been filed at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) over the merciless physical punishment to students by the Gopabandhu Bidyabhavan Headmaster in Petapada.
According to the complaint filed by rights activist Jayanta Kumar Das students namely Rakesh Das, Priyabrata Das, Prasad Das, Sunil Kumar Samal, Sushil Kumar Pradhan, Biswajit Behera, Shuvam Khilar, Shonali Das and Bijan Kumar Parida were beaten mercilessly by School Headmaster Ekadasi Das. He also threatened to kill one of the students named Bijan.
“Furthermore there was one serious allegation against him that he had grabbed the monetary assistant and stipend of OBC students. As the news came out in newspaper the Headmaster got aggrieved and beat the students mercilessly,” alleged the complainant.
The petitioner has urged the commission to ask State Government to setup an independent inquiry committee to know the manipulation of stipend money of students and strong legal action against the Headmaster, besides paying compensation of Rs50,000 to each victim student.
