The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) to conduct a probe into the alleged finalisation of transportation facilities at a pre-bid meeting of the Sundargarh Urban Transport Trust (SUTT) recently.
The apex human rights watchdog also directed the OHRC to submit action-taken report (ATR) in this regard.
Angul-based Human Rights Watch secretary had moved the NHRC alleging that the trust was formed illegally.
“It was decided in the meeting that the Sundargarh Urban Transport Trust (SUTT) and Bus Association in Sundargarh have been assigned to provide transport services in Rourkela, Biramitrapur, Rajgangpur thereby facilitating misappropriation of funds,” alleged the petitioner.
The petitioner demanded action against the concerned official and urge the commission to direct the State to spend Central funds properly.
