The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the Khordha Superintendent of Police to submit an action-taken report (ATR) over non-registration of an FIR by the Capital police station against the Chief Minister and the Vigilance Director.
Though the Capital police station falls under the jurisdiction of Commissionerate police and under the administrative control of Bhubaneswar DCP, the commission has issued notice to the Khorda SP to comply with its order within four weeks.
The Human Rights Watch secretary has moved the NHRC alleging that though former lok Sabha member and Utkal Bharat president filed an FIR at the Capital police station against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Vigilance Director KB Singh in connection with former DGP Prakash Mishra case but the police did not register the case with mala fide intention violating human rights. The petitioner urged commission to direct police for immediate registration of FIR, fair probe and Rs 10 lakh compensation to complainant.
