The National Human Rights Commission has asked the IG Prisons and Bhadrak distrcit Superintendent of Police for an appropriate action within four weeks against Bhadrak Jail Jailer for allegedly raping a girl.
The NHRC passed the order based on the petition of civil society organisation Human Rights Watch secretary Sangita Swain.
Swain had alleged Bhadrak Jail Jailer Chinmaya Patra had raped a girl on the pretext of providing her a job and marrying her.
Patra also made the private moments with the girl viral on social media.
She further alleged the authorities of inaction which is violation of human rights.
