To provide roadside shelters for travellers and pilgrims coming to Puri for the Nabakalebar of lord Jagannath next year, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to construct wayside amenities centres at the side of the four-lane NH, which is under construction from Bhubaneswar to Puri, near important junctions by the end of this year.

For beautification, the authority has also decided to fix indication boards at each kilometer distance and plant various flowers in the middle of the space dividing both way stretched from Bhubaneswar bi-pass to Puri. The decision was taken at a meeting, presided over by Temple Chief Administrator Dr Arabinda Padhee at Puri, recently.

The meeting reviewed issues pertaining to construction progress of the four-lane NH, traffic control, progress of proposed railway over bridge near Chandanpur, land acquisition, transfer of its title and payment of compensation, etc. Dr Padhee appealed all the concerned authorities for timely completion of the works in view of the fast-approaching Nabakalebar.
