NGT stay on Shamuka project continues

Published on:

The stay order on the construction work of the Shamuka Tourism project continued as the National Green Tribunal (NGT) decided to hear the application for vacation of the stay order on February 19. During the last hearing, the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) had filed an application before the NGT requesting to vacate the stay order given by the NGT in July last year. The NGT had imposed the stay order acting on a petition filed by environmental activist Prafulla Samantara which challenged the tree-felling and construction work of the project.

The applicant through his counsel Sankar Prasad Pani had filed rejoinder to the replies of all the respondents in original application and misc application.  In this matter, the State Government is represented by Advocate General Surya Prasad Mishra.
