The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Wednesday postponed the hearing on the petition against tree felling at the proposed site for the Posco steel plant project nearParadip to Friday due to lack of quorum.
It may be mentioned that land acquisition for the project was suspended in May last year after the NGT ordered a stay on the felling of trees in the project area till January 21 and fixed the date of hearing on January 23.
The State Government cannot transfer the additional 1,000 acres of land for the project unless the NGT’s stay oorder is lifted.
