Vigilance sleuths on Monday arrested Nayagarh district’s Guanda Upgraded High School Headmaster Chhabindra Ghadei for taking bribe of Rs 2,500 from one Bhaskar Chandra Behera to give a scholarship cheque to his son, a Class X student.

In his complaint, Behera informed that the school had received a cheque amounting to Rs 5,000 towards INSPIRE Scholarship in his son Bhagabat’s name from the District Education Officer, Nayagarh.

Ghadei called him on July 17 and demanded Rs 2,500 for delivery of the cheque. Behera reported the matter to the Vigilance on July 25. Vigilance police then laid a trap and caught Ghadei red-handed while taking the bribe money. The investigation was still in progress,” said an official release.
