A Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch police on Friday started investigation into the recent tragic cracker factory blast at Tanti Sahi under the Itamati police limits in Nayagarh district in which seven persons have died so far.
A two-member team led by Crime Branch DSP Ramachandra Thamba reached Itamati and began the probe. It held discussions with the Nayagarh SP and SDPO, sources said.
The team was scheduled to visit the spot of incident for detailed investigation.
Notably, the cracker factory caught fire on September 23 evening followed by a massive blast. While two persons died on the very day, four more succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack next day. Another died at the hospital on September 27.
