NFSA card row: Govt warns of tough action

Published on:

With the last date for withdrawal of digitised ration cards by ineligible persons under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) ending on Friday, the Government on Thursday warned of criminal cases against general offenders and disciplinary action against Government job holders for possessing the cards. Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma informed that if anybody found taking food grains they would be charged 10 time of the market price of the items. “We will act tough on offenders after the deadline. While criminal cases will be filed against general card holders, disciplinary action will be initiated against Government job holders for illegal possession of the card under the NFSA,” said the Minister.
