Next 15 days more challenging: Naveen

Appreciating efforts of all stakeholders involved in the united fight against Covid-19 in the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday cautioned them of the challenges to be faced in the next 15 days as flights and railway services have resumed.

While reviewing the Covid-19 situation in the State, Patnaik suggested the officers to plan a fortnight of serious awareness creation on social distancing, wearing of masks and frequent hand hygiene among people.

The CM expressed his happiness as Odisha has become one of the leading States in the country in terms of Covid-19 testing and establishment of decentralised testing facilities in every part of the State.

“Testing has to be smart to take care of our frontline workers and vulnerable population,” said Patnaik.

He pointed out, “95% of our positive cases are from quarantine centres. This shows the robustness of our system and the efforts put by Sarpanches, people’s representatives and the entire Government machinery from top to bottom cutting across departments. The humane work done by police in ensuring zero walking inside Odisha is praiseworthy.”

Being apprehensive of the challenges following resumption of flights and train services, Patnaik said, “The coming 15 days to a month will be more challenging, but I am sure we will handle the same in a professional manner with a human face.”

He also appreciated efforts of all those who managed the Covid-19 and Cyclone Amphan situations simultaneously and thanked the people of the State for their sacrifice and cooperation with the Government.
