A newly–married woman was allegedly killed by her husband at Nua Sahi under the Talabania police station in the town on Monday. The deceased was identified as Subhasmita Mohanty.
Sources said Subhasmita was in love with one Kalu Behera of Nua Sahi. The couple had got married just three months ago.
It is alleged that Subhasmita was strangulated to death by her husband, though the exact reason behind the crime is yet to be ascertained.
It is suspected that Kalu killed his wife over a family feud.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and sent the body to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for postmortem. The accused has gone absconding after the incident. Police are investigating into the incident and are on the lookout for Kalu.
