A newborn girl was rescued from a garbage bin near the Madhuban Community Health Centre under Rasulpur block in the district on Wednesday.
A sweeper, who had come to collect the wastage from the bin, was shocked to find the baby. He immediately informed the hospital authorities about it. A team of doctors rushed to the spot and rescued the baby in critical condition. After primary treatment, the doctors shifted her to the District Headquarter Hospital (DHH). On receiving information, the district Child Protection Officer reached the hospital and inquired about condition of the newborn. From the DHH, the baby was again shifted to the Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack, informed Jajpur Child Welfare Committee (CWC) member Subash Debeta.
