In a shocking incident, a newborn baby boy was found dumped in a Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) garbage bin at New Colony near the Sainik School on Saturday.
Sources said a sweeper heard the cries of the baby and found it in a bag wrapped in a cloth.
He immediately informed it to locals, who in turn informed police, who rushed to the spot and admitted the child in a nearby hospital. The condition of the child was stated to be critical and he is undergoing treatment in ICU.
Sources said the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) after coming to know about the incidence asked the Child line to take responsibility of the baby. Meanwhile, the police are investigating who dumped the baby in the garbage bin.
