Police recovered the mutilated body of a baby girl from the premises of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here on the wee hours of Friday.
Reports said a few hospital staffs spotted the body of the infant near Aahar Centre of the DHH in the morning and immediately informed the police.
Though the exact cause of the death of the newborn is yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigation revealed that the infant might have been mauled by some stray animals as one of her legs was missing and she had multiple injuries on other parts of the body.
Police is suspecting someone might have dumped the baby near the hospital. Further investigation is underway.
