A new trade union in IOCl plant, named Jagatsinghpur- Kendrapada Industrial Shramik Sangha, was formed here.
Senior BJP leaders Bijay Mohapatra and Dilip Ray inaugurated the union at a function held at the IOCl premises on Wednesday.
Speaking on the inaugural event, Mohapatra said although Paradip has become an industrial hub of the country and has been growing fast after the IOCl project was launched, but it is yet to get improved infrastructure facilities. This is so because Paradip lacks a vision document for its further expansion, he opined.
He cited the traffic problem in Paradip, need to widen Chandikhol- Paradip express highway, fast-track rail connectivity between Haridashpur and Paradip now running at a very slow pace, improve water supply to Paradip industrial town through Taladana canal, housing plan for the slum dwellers, among others.
