New phase: Steel coils exported via Paradip Port

Published on:

Export of steel coils through the Paradip Port began on Sunday, marking a new phase in the port’s operations with the commencement of shipment of the steel coils of the Bhusan Steels limited.

Paradip Port Trust Chairman Sudhansu Sekhara Mishra inaugurated the maiden loading of the consignment of 6,400 tonnes of steel coils into the vessel Dahitul Kalbi berthed at the Central Quay-II. The coils are being exported to Togo.

PPT Chairman Mishra said, “The Paradip Port has made adequate arrangements to facilitate export of steel products of industries located in the hinterland and for this concrete plot and connectivity are available. “We are interested to promote export of steel products in a great way through the Paradip Port. We are intending to diversify our cargo profile.”

Since the Paradip Port is nearer to the steel plants situated in the hinterland, the transportation cost and time would be less compared to other ports. By this, the traffic of the port would grow and foreign exchange reserve would also be increased.
