A special meeting of the newly constituted Mahanagar Mandal BJP office bearers and workers was held here on Sunday in which Mahanagar BJP president Dr Bhavani Shankar Das presided.
The members unanimously decided to form new committees for each of the 40 wards under the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BMC) and elect new president for each ward to strengthen the BJP at the grassroots level.
Besides, the meeting also decided to constitute zonal committees taking five wards under one zone and increase membership. The Mahanagar unit targeted to enrol 5,000 new and enthusiastic youths as its members to widen the scope of the party.
“Narendra Modi has assumed the charge of Prime Minister. Inspired by this, hundreds of youths, retired employees, and common public are now voluntarily interested to join BJP, which is a positive sign for the country,” said Dr Das.
Among others, district BJP Yuva Morcha president Prabhat Sadangi, Mahila Morcha president Babita Patra, Mahanagar BJP general secretary Sangram Keshari Padhi, Radha Govind Panigrahi, Bhukat Sahu, Suresh Chandra Behera, Patitapaban Sahu, Sameer Panda, Sushila Singh, Sabita Nayak, Sunil Choudhury, Bijay Kumar Swain, Shiva Shankar Das, Bibhutibhusan Jena, Sunil Kumar Sahu and Gopinath Panda participated.
