Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday announced here that BPl families would be provided new lPG connections at Rs 1,600 soon.

He made his maiden visit to Brajrajnagar and Jharsuguda after assuming office as Minister on Saturday.

Pradhan attended annual day function of the Brajrajnagar College where he was joined by Brajrajnagar MlA Radharani Panda.

Stressing on development of industrialisation at Brajrajnagar, Pradhan called upon youths to join hands with the Union Government in building a new Brajrajnagar. “The international financial situation currently is running through ups and downs, which is adversely affecting coal sectors in the country. The country has to come out of this situation and strive to ‘Make India’ a success,” added Pradhan.

Addressing a meeting here, Pradhan expressed his gratitude to people of Jharsuguda for electing him as a Member of lok Sabha in 2004, which effectively helped him kick-start his political career at national level.

He accused the State Government of hijacking the subsidy extended by Central Government towards subsidised rice scheme by projecting it as a State Government scheme. He also alleged that the State Government has failed in every sector.  He said the process adopted for selection of beneficiaries for NFSA ration card is highly erroneous and suggested a review of the list.

Pradhan reiterated that the State would have 40 lakh new cooking gas connections by 2019. He said the Paradip oil refinery is under a modernisation process after completion of which a pipeline would be laid out to Jharsuguda, which would become a prime supply route for petroleum products to neighbouring States like Jharkhand and Chattisgarh.

He informed about his Ministry’s plan to provide 100 per cent clean fuel to BPl families at a 50 per cent discount and announced that the Ministry would provide new gas connections at for Rs 1,600 each.
