New kine house to end Puri stray cattle menace

Published on:

While the Government and the Puri Municipality had failed to give the local residents a respite from the stray cattle, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) will set up a kine house to end the problem.

To provide a total solution to the problems posed by the stray cattle population found dissipating and causing much inconvenience for the traffic and often found to be attacking pilgrims at the Badadanda and other places in the Pilgrim Town, the new kine house will be built and maintained by the SJTA. A proposal in this direction was approved in the annual budget for the SJTA for 2014- 15. The temple authorities will also arrange light refreshment for the police personnel engaged in tiresome and restless duties during the Rath Yatra.

The temple administration will also settle beggar problem at the Singhadwar and Badadanda.

It will provide them with construction sheds. For taking all these measures, a sum of Rs1.5 crore has been earmarked in the temple budget, said sources.
