The final coronation of Prince Dhananjaya Narayan Bhanj as the 49th King of Keonjhar princely state was held on Dhanu Sankranti on Monday. Dhananjaya Narayan ascended to the throne as per the decision taken by Rajamata Malavika Devi.
Following the death of the 48th Keonjhar King Ananta Narayan Bhanj on December 1, his elder son Dhananjaya Narayan had taken over as the interim king the same day. As per the tradition, the throne cannot be left vacant. Ananta Narayan’s death rituals were performed only after Dhananjaya’s interim coronation was performed.
Dhananjaya Narayan began his work on Tuesday after offering prayers to deities at the local Sri Sri Baladebajew Temple.
