A body of Nesco employees has threatened to take to streets if some of the issues raised by it are not addressed. In a meeting the functionaries alleged that the power distribution company was adopting exploitative policy for the employees as well as consumers. They alleged that the company was not enhancing the number of staff when the number of consumers had gone manifold.
In the five districts of Baleswar, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Jajpur, while the consumer number is about 2 lakh, there are only 2,000 staff members.
With this strength, they are not able to meet expectations of the consumers. Hence, the field staff are facing wrath of the consumers on most occasions, the forum alleged.
Even after serving for 15 years as contractual, the staff members are not made permanent and the same couldn't be made even after having written assurance following discussions with previous Energy Secretary Hemant Sharma, they said.
The junior technicians who are working since long are not elevated to linemen C and their grade pay issue to Rs 2,830 is not resolved due to the apathetic attitude of the department , they alleged.
