Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested Pradip Shanti, a Junior Accountant of Nesco’s Assistant Engineer office in Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district, on the charge of taking bribe of Rs 2,000 for adjustment of advance electricity bill.
Acting on the complaint lodged by Antaryami Sahoo of Uppardiha, the sleuths laid a trap and caught Shanti red-handed while taking the bribe.
In another case, the Vigilance Court, Bhubaneswar awarded one and a half years of rigorous imprisonment to Prafulla Kumar Mishra, former Secretary of Rajasa gram panchayat under Balipatana block in Khordha district, while convicting him in a bribe case involving issuance of work order. A fine of Rs 3,000 was also imposed on him. In default of payment of the fine, he would undergo another four-month RI.
