A Junior Manager of Nesco Utility, Kaptipada Section in Mayurbhanj district was caught red-handed by Vigilance officials while he was accepting an illegal gratification of Rs 1,300 on Friday.
Aswini Kumar Das Adhikari had demanded the bribe from one Sisir Kumar Nayak, who works as a private driver, of Janakpur village under the Kaptipada police in the district, to clear the hire charge bill of the latter’s vehicle for the month of October.Acting on a complaint lodged by Nayak, a Vigilance team laid a trap and caught the official red-handed. In another case, a Crorepati clerk was on Friday arrested by the Vigilance in Bhubaneswar on the charge of amassing assets disproportionate to his known source of income.
Udayanath Jena, Senior Clerk at Office of Sub- Collector, Bhubaneswar, was arrested following raids on his houses on Thursday.
The Vigilance had traced his properties valued at Rs 1.77 crore.
Similarly, Ratnakar Mohanty, Junior Clerk, office of Sub-Registrar, Dharmasala, Jajpur, was also arrested for possession of disproportionate assets of Rs 77.48 lakh.
