lambasting the Central Government for delaying works like procurement of modern equipment and weapons for the State Forest department, Forest and Wildlife Minister Dinesh Aggrawal stressed on the need for necessary resources required to protect Uttarakhand’s wealth of wildlife and flora. Aggarwal said this at the handing over ceremony of five Bolero Campers donated for tiger conservation work by WWF-India here on Saturday.
While expressing concern at the incidence of poaching and seizures of big cat pelts in Uttarakhand, he thanked WWF-India for donating the vehicles and assisting the authorities in tiger conservation and other wildlife works.
The Boleros donated to the department will be deployed in lansdowne, Haridwar and Haldwani (Nandhaur wildlife sanctuary) forest divisions. Anil Kumar Singh from WWF-India Dehradun programme office spoke on the organisation’s work in wildlife conservation.
Department officials along with researchers and officials of WWF-India were also present on the occasion.
