A Jawan of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 3rd Battalion at Mundali on Wednesday rescued a 55-year-old woman who was lying on the road near the Puri Ghat police station in Cuttack. Balaram Ghosh while returning to the NDRF Battalion from the Cuttack railway station saw the woman with grievous injuries in her right leg and hand apparently due to a road accident and screaming for help. He immediately contacted an ambulance and police as no commuters or locals were coming forward to help her. After first aid she was sent to the SCB Medical College Hospital.
The victim was identified as Bidya Sharma, wife of one Shyam Sunder Sharma, a resident of Puri Ghat in Cuttack town.
