Keeping in view the dying declaration of Itishree Pradhan, the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Wednesday decided to ask Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Koraput BJD MP Jayaram Pangi and the Rayagada district Collector and SP to submit their reports in connection with the case, official sources said on Wednesday.
A team of the NCW, led by its Chairperson Mamta Sharma, would visit the State very soon to probe the issue. NCW Member Manasi Pradhan of Odisha would also come in the team, the sources said.
In the Kendrapada rape and murder case, the NCW Chairperson criticised the State Government for not opening sexual harassment treatment units in hospitals. She expressed grave concern over unavailability of treatment facilities for women victims in the State hospitals.
