“We are now enquiring into the legal aspects of the case after collecting several documentary evidences,” said NCW member Hemalata Khedia. She was accompanied by another member of the Commission Manasi Pradhan.

Pradhan said the poor Dalit girl had to undergo a lot of ordeal and she needs proper treatment and counselling to overcome them and come to terms.

It may be mentioned here that the minor girl from Kamalasagar Patna of Pipili was found lying near a pond on April 28 this year. The police had traced the girl after a missing case was reported.

Police investigations revealed that the girl was impregnated after she was gang-raped by one of her acquaintances and his friends. In the meantime police have arrested key accused Kartika Behera (25) and Chhabi Behera (27) from nearby Hatasahi village of the area in this connection and are on the lookout of another absconding accused Sangram Behera.
