National Commission for Scheduled Tribe (NCST) Chairman Rameshwar Oraon on Saturday met Chief Secretary GC Pati here and discussed with him about rising numbers of teen pregnancies in various Sevashram schools in the State.
“The State Government had not taken enough action against the 17 sexual harassment cases in sevashram schools,” Oraon claimed. He also expressed grave concern over the issue and urged the State Government to look into the matter seriously.
In the meeting, Oraon raised a host of issues such as quality of education, infrastructure and healthcare facilities in sevashrams schools in the tribal-dominated Koraput, Sundergarh and Keonjhar districts.
The NCST Chairman also urged the Government to open a model school in each block.
