The district consumer forum has issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against the Nayagarh Sugar Complex ltd (NSCl) chairman Trailokya Mishra for contempt of court.
In a bid to resolve the nagging issue of the NSCl, a high level review meeting was chaired by Cooperation Minister Damodar Rout at the State Secretariat here a week ago.
Recently, the State Government after convening a high-level meeting at the State Secretariat here on September 10 had announced that it would initiate process to resume operations at Nayagarh sugar mill.
Notably, sugarcane growers have not received their dues for the cane supplied to the mill for a long period. The mill authorities have declared a lockout since March 4 this year.
The Nayagarh Aakhu Chasi Mahasangha and the Nayagarh Sugar Factory Employees Union have been demanding reopening of the sugar mill and payment of arrears to cultivators and arrear wages to employees.
