Navnirman to hold panchayats on farm issues

Published on:

Demanding pension for farmers, increase in old age pension to Rs 1,500, fixing paddy price at Rs 3,000 per quintal milk price at Rs 50 and per litre, the Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) on Saturday decides to hold Panchayats of farmers across the State.

In a Press meet, NKS State coordinator Sheshdev Nanda and youth coordinator Manwar Ali said that while the State Government is busy increasing packages and salary and bonus for the Government employees, farmers are unfortunately forgotten. The Government in fact has no plan nor are the field officials moving an inch to raise income from forest, agriculture, fisheries and cattle rearing, Nanda alleged.

“While on one hand there are no adequate cold storage to preserve vegetables and mandi facilities for farmers to sell their products, consumers on the other hand are even purchasing tomatoes at Rs 80 a kg,” said youth coordinator Manwar Ali.

Ali said the much-talked-about Kalia scheme benefits has decreased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 4,000 now.

Nanda and Ali appealed to all the NKS district coordinators to hold panchayats on these demands and mobilise public opinion against the “anti-people” Government policies.
