In a jolt to the ruling BJD and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in particular, party Aska MP ladu Kishore Swain on Tuesday said Ganjam, the home district of the CM, was not free from criminal elements. Reacting on the arrest and criminal activities of former Congress Sanakhemundi MlA Ramesh Jena, Swain said Jena has grown under police and administration protection. “How a man will open fire in broad daylight and resort to mortal attack; Is it possible without the support of police and administrationIJ” posed the MP. He further charged that police are not people-friendly in Ganjam district.
He demanded a proper inquiry into the alleged links of the former MlA with police and political leaders. When asked by mediapersons whether Ganjam district is not free from criminal elements, he reacted positively. Meanwhile, reacting strongly on Swain’s statement, party spokesperson Sameer Das said that if the MP has evidences he should put them before the Chief Minister, who too holds the Home portfolio.
