The Utkal Bharat (UB) on Tuesday termed the Best Administrator Award conferment on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and subsequent celebrations for it as “sponsored” events.

“While chit fund and mines scams and failure governance are wide open in the State, the Outlook magazine’s survey awarding the Chief Minister is quite unfounded and unbelievable,” said party president Kharabela Swain at a Press meet here.Swain said the online survey conducted by the magazine is not acceptable to his party as respondents were quite a few and heterogeneous from across the country. “Had it (survey) been conducted in Odisha taking responses from people, the things have been different. The Chief Minister has done it all to cover up his failures only,” alleged Swain.

Quoting the India Today, Swain said the magazine has, in its survey, always found Odisha at lower places in the list of States in terms of governance since 2013. “In 2013, the India Today survey had placed in 14th position among top 20 States in 2013 and 17 th position among 21 States in 2016.”Similarly, the Public Affairs Centre (PAC), a Bengaluru based orgnisation, had found Odisha 15th position among 17 top States in its survey conducted in 2016, said Swain.“All these surveys have proved that the Governance in Odisha is quite unsatisfactory,” he said.Among others, party’s Bhubaneswar district president Naba Kishore Pradhan, State secretary Sk Kamiluddin Ahmed, vice-president lokanath Sarangi and Puri district president Mahakud Gangadhar Mansingh were present.
