Eyeing the upcoming panchayat elections next year, Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik on Sunday asked his party cadres to be techno-savvy by using social media as a key medium to reach out to people to strengthen public relations.
Patnaik while gracing an awareness workshop on use of social media here, asked Ministers, MlAs and MPs and workers of the BJD to use social media like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and Instagram to keep themselves in constant touch with party workers and supporters as well as the people at the grassroots level.
“The workshop will acclimatise the MlAs and MPs about social media network which will improve a lot of matters in their respective constituencies,” said Patnaik.
Information Technology Minister Pranab Prakash Das said the social media would help leaders take up people’s grievances, suggestions and other issues with the Chief Minister, the CMO and the concerned Ministers and officers and discuss with them about the best possible governance through the social media.
The workshop also discussed problems of construction workers and the assistance given to them by the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board.
labour and Employees’ State Insurance Minister Prafulla Mallick said out of a total of 25 lakh construction workers in the State, about 13 lakh have been registered so far. “Efforts are on to register the remaining construction workers by 2019,” he added.
